Outdoor Sink Makes Water Recycling Simple - This sink is ridiculously easy to make from "found" or repurposed parts (try Habitat for Humanity ReStores). The sink is hooked up to an outdoor hose (no plumbing) and water from it goes into a simple 5 gallon bucket to collect grey water that can be used on landscape. Now instead of going inside to wash garden produce, it can be done at the outdoor sink.

Rid your garden of aphids by spraying your plants with a solution of vinegar and water. 1 cup vinegar to a gallon of water. Vinegar is a natural pesticide so you can get rid of many critters by using a solution mixed with water.

As you plant, put Epsom salts and sugar into each hole. Plants will grow larger, leafier and greener. 4(epsom salts) to 1(sugar) ratio.

Pest control Anise will disguise the scent of broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower & cilantro and keeps away the aphids. Basil improves the growth and flavor of tomatoes. Chamomile is a tonic for anything in the garden. Geranium protects corn, tomatoes, pepper and cabbage with its strong scent, by repelling bad bugs. Tuck a few sunflowers among your corn for better yield. Nasturtiums deter aphids. Lemon balm deters many bugs as do marigolds.

lavender is a fragrant plant, which is helpful in masking the stench of dirty laundry in college dorm rooms... did you know that lavender helps keep pests like mice away? Also, studies show that it's soothing. (probably has something to do with the lack of mice!) Also-- gotta keep this guy in the sun!

Growing Carrots in containers, This is an amazing way to have carrots right outside your kitchen. Super easy! I think I might try this for the chickens.

Another pinner said, "BEST Weed Spray. I made 3 gallons for around $4.00 last year after seeing a pin. Worked better than Round Up & killed the weeds/stray grass on first application. One gallon of APPLE CIDER VINEGAR, 1/2 c table salt, 1 tsp Dawn. Mix and pour into a smaller spray bottle."
