MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA, AW12.
Project: We are still and reflective (Wir sind still und reflektieren) by Martin Boyce The inconspicuous site on the premises of the former zoo is covered with formed concrete slabs. In selected spaces between the concrete slabs, Boyce has installed bands made of brass that form letters following the outlines of the slabs. The letters say, “We are still and reflective.”
Born and raised in the Philippines, New Jersey-based artist Gregory Halili is deeply influenced by the vegetation and wildlife he experienced as a child. His latest series of work involves a fusion of the human form with the natural world in these amazing bas-relief shell skulls. Halili carves and then paints with oil on raw, gold-lip and black-lip mother of pearl found in shells collected from the Philippines.
