Louisiana Purchase State Park near Brinkley, Arkansas. This area is a National Historic Landmark. This southern lowland swamp is the starting point for the first official survey of the Louisiana Purchase in 1815. This park is a series of elevated boardwalks which allows visitors to explore the swamp and see this granite marker which is the survey beginning point. There are display boards throughout that detail the history of the Louisiana Purchase as well as the flora and wildlife of the swamp.
