BoomWriter provides a story starter for a story and students continue the story by writing additional chapters. The chapters are submitted anonymously by students to the project. After the submissions are made students can vote for their favorite submissions. If you don't use Google Docs in your classroom yet, you need to start ASAP! It's amazing to see the collaboration it creates between students themselves and even students with the teacher, and how much students truly grow visually seeing you work with them on their writing.
