Read "Remembering a Time…" from the Picklebums blog. (Yes, I said Picklebums!) What keeps you awake at night... and causes lack of sleep? Please comment!

I haven't lost a lot of sleep to worry in the 23 years I've been a mother. I don't know if that's because my kids are just easy, or I'm sort of a magical thinker (yeah, still, at 45...) But between the twins and my arthritic hip, I've earned one colossal sleep deficit. I will never, ever, EVER catch up. I sit down, I fall asleep. I often sleep in the car on the way to the theater or restaurant for our Friday night dates. The other day I fell asleep during a hymn in church--while I was singing it.

@Tracy Ocepek Now that is funny! (Not the not sleeping part!) I learned to drive a stick at 16, don't know if that was good or bad! I was 16...

@Janna Mauldin Heiner Oh dear! Maybe a mid afternoon cat nap! Too funny that you fell asleep while singing in church LOL!

@ Lisa Nolan Yeah...and I'm a strong trained lyric/mezzo soprano, too. I don't know what my voice was doing while I was drifting off...eep. I do take naps in the afternoon when the boys do whenever I can...but right now I'm taking two courses and can't afford a maid... :^ ) So naptime is pretty busy. (FTR, when I said I fall asleep in the car, I should probably clarify that my husband is driving...)

Been an insomniac since childhood, ANYTHING can cause me to not sleep...but I still get up and check on my kids, and they're 12 and 14!
