Placing bottles on trees and bushes originated in Africa and Haiti from the people forced into slavery and made to leave their country. It is said, that the bottle captures evil spirits before they enter the home keeping those inside safe from harm.

It's said by having a bottle tree in your yard, evil spirts trying to enter will be trapped inside and confused by the sunlight and color, unable to escape. I've always wanted one and this is elegant.
