Visiting Dublin? My Top Tips !
Dublin is one of my favourite places in the world! I lived there for ten years and go back as often as I can which is not as often as I would like! This board is a collection of my top recommendations for Dublin based on my own experience and sheer love of the place....
Traditional Irish music sessions at their best!
Newgrange shrouded in mist. Great day trip option if your base is Dublin. No photograph can begin to capture this incredible testament to an ancient people or the seriously stunning location that is the Boyne Valley. If you want to leave the city for a day and experience beautiful countryside combined with an incredible attraction (Newgrange pre dates the pyramids of Egypt) plus a great tour then consider Newgrange : )
Ok so its not exactly what I would want to do if I were visiting another city BUT if you like zoos, or have kids that need entertaining then Dublin Zoo is a first rate option and situated in the very lovely and historical Phoenix Park..
Dublin Literary Pub Crawl. A great tour with something for everyone, a perfect blend of information, entertainment and culture. Led by professional actors who recite snippets from the literary greats in the very streets that inspired the words. Absorbing, inspiring, insightful, loved it : )
Dublin Literary Pub Crawl - walking tours of Dublin
St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin - The author of Gullivers Travels, Johnathon Swift was Dean of this Cathedral in the 1700's.
Christ Church Cathedral Dublin | Dublin Service Times | Dublin Choral Services | Christmas Events
Kehoe's, Dublin (off Grafton St) My taste in pubs runs to the traditional and this Dublin institution is a fine example! Atmosphere, authentic, traditional and central
The Brazen Head Pub is Dublin's oldest pub with a colourful past including a highwayman so very appealing! Cosy, unpretentious, easygoing, food available, off the beaten track but still central, I like it!
Fallons Dublin is a favourite traditional pub (not touristy whatsoever!) With the front door of St Patricks Cathedral at your back, turn left, cross the road, walk a few hundred yards and you should spot it easily enough! Cosy, intimate, unpretentious
Il Vicoletto (Temple Bar) Authentic Italian restaurant, fabulous food and great specials so good value too! Bit tricky to find, best to walk up Dame St from the main gates of Trinity college (stay on the right side of the street). Pass the central bank and take a right turn down a cobbled street called Crow St and its on your right!
La Maison Restaurant - Location Castlemarket Streetm 2 mins walk from Grafton St, behind the Powerscourt Townhouse Shopping Centre. Not cheap but great food and service in a gorgeous location on a pedestrian street plus outside seating space to watch the world go by! Highly recommend!
Take a walk in St. Stephan's Green park. The park is adjacent to Grafton street. It is the largest of the parks in Dublin's main Georgian squares.
