Pick up the brad with the tweezers and heat it up with the embossing gun. I did mine for about 50 seconds or so. just dip it into the embossing powder. The embossing powder melts on the hot brad resulting in a smooth shiny finish.

I bought the scrubber she suggested (pictured) at the dollar store (it canNOT have metal scratchies in it)...then I used water & a drop of dish-soap, scrubbed quite vigorously, wiped off the excess water & waited for them to air dry. I like the idea of agenda-journaling. Just a quote, phrase, picture, etc. per day. Maybe I'll turn one of my Moleskine notebooks into this.
