1914-18 - 1.ère Guerre Mondiale / WW1

Manfred von Richthofen (1892 – 1918), also widely known as the Red Baron, was a German fighter pilot with the Imperial German Army Air Service (Luftstreitkräfte) during World War I. He is considered the top ace of that war, being officially credited with 80 air combat victories.

A hero.... Sgt. Stubby fought in 17 battles in WWI. He was in the trenches in France for 18 months, survived being gassed and went on to warn his unit of incoming gas attacks and artillery shelling; he located wounded soldiers, and helped capture a German spy. After the war, he was the Georgetown Hoyas’ mascot.

Shell shock is described as the trauma that post war military personnel can experience. The symptoms include paranoia, panic, and inability to sleep, eat, walk, or talk. Unfortunately, many WW1 soldiers suffered from this fatal disability/illness after their honorable service.
