It’s best to gaze in wonder at the sliding rocks on this dry lake bed in Death Valley National Park. Racetrack Playa is almost completely flat, 2.5 miles from north to south and 1.25 miles from east to west, and covered with cracked mud. The rocks, some weighing hundreds of pounds, slide across the sediment, leaving furrows in their wakes, but no one has actually witnessed it.

Jewels in the city - Amsterdam - Liesbet Bussche - Liesbet Bussche is a street artist who wants to add a bit of class, and proper jewelry accents, to all that ugly junk hanging around the city streets. She adds her whimsical touches, like earring backs, half heart pendants and glowing chains, to the stuff on the side of the road.

The working library of Hereford Cathedral in England originated in the eleventh century. The chained library at the cathedral, containing 229 medieval manuscripts, remains the largest historic chained library in the world, with all its rods, chains and locks intact. It has been preserved in the form in which it was maintained from 1611 to 1841.
