Here is a great, free, word game idea that is terrific for literacy centers, small groups or even one-to-one remedial help! It's great for sound blending, strengthening verbal reasoning skills, sequential processing and more. It's totally addicting and your students will love it.
Sight Word Bowling - 4 words taped to the outside of each pin. You read the words of the pins you've knocked over. You could adapt this for addition. You could also place the word on the base of the pins so the child can't see it until it's knocked over.
Students are making words in this activity. They are creating a word in a consonant-vowel-consonant patteren. This could be extended into word families or sight words. Students could do this as word work or at a station.
