Frugal Decorating Ideas
I get an inordinate amount of joy from coming up with new ways to make furniture (or a room) unique and beautiful. And I started thinking about how, in theory, you should be able to get the same charcoal shading effect using STAIN on wood. I was realllllllly excited to give this a try!" - Awesome tutorials on this blog!
Very interesting stain technique to rescue this old piece of furniture. Could be adapted to make many different designs.
Love this as a family collection. Use a picture of each person doing their own unique pose. Cut it out (resize on copy machine if needed.) Use this as your template to cut out a sillhouette on black paper. Attach sillhouette to white paper. Frame in black frame. Something the kids will always treasure and your guests will talk about.
Candle Stick Apothecary Jars. You will need 3 candlesticks. These came in a set at Ross for $10. They were primed, then spray painted green. The jars were old salsa jars soaked in bleach solution and labels peeled off. The lids were spray painted to match the candlesticks. Lastly, the jars were glued onto the candlesticks with gorilla glue.
Very cool DIY mirrors. "Jessy from Fairytale Frosting shares how she created her own set of intricately designed mirrors for under ten bucks. She first used her Cricut to cut patterns from contact paper and applied them to six mirrors she already had on hand from the dollar store. After spraying them with frosted glass spray paint, she removed the contact paper and voila!"

Tablecloth becomes a floor-cloth! No painting, no measuring, no planning, just roll on a few coats of poly and you have a durable, easy care and GEORGEOUS floorcloth! Already hemmed and everything! I think the round shape is what triggered the idea for me, as I have been a long time looking for a round rug that I liked. (Full instructions here.)

Glowing Outdoor Orbs: You need opaque glass shades, & christmas lights: Just stick the glass shades anywhere you want & stuff them full of mini lights. Attach an extension cord if you need to & hide it under your garden dirt or mulch. I have my lights on a timer so they come on every night at dusk.
