apples + cinnamon + oven @ 200 degrees = homemade apple chips. Healthy treat!
Butternut Squash Chips-These turned out really well. I made one with just sea salt and the other with cinnamon, both were devoured at dinner time. I never could get the middle to crisp up without burning the entire thing on the high heat, so they were rather chewy the next day. Recently acquired a chip maker so i'll be trying it again, if that doesn't work i'll try the low and slow method.

High protein crunchy snack:Soak 1 cup dried yellow split peas in 3 cups water for 4 1/2 hours. Drain and pat dry. Over medium-high heat, coat a large skillet with oil. Add half the peas; cook, stirring frequently, until golden brown and crunchy, 6 to 10 minutes. Season with salt. Repeat with remaining peas. Makes 12 servings (55 calories each).
