I made mats like this and my class loves to play. We keep score on the board for who wins each 'hand'. I call out, "Draw 2 (or 3) cards and make the least/greatest number possible." I also made one which includes thousands, for later.

Here is a sample of our ever changing Data Wall. The kids add a sticker every time they get a 100% on their spelling tests. As you can see from the sticker chart, we went from less that 50% of the kids achieving a 100% to almost 100% once we started keeping track of the data! The other charts consist of Excel graphs made up of various pieces of classroom data. The post-it notes on the graphs are the students "thinking" in regards to the data. Great motivation wall!

JLH... Lacey Walker, Nonstop Talker -- A book about the importance of listening. A definite read during the first week of school. It is important to establish my rules and expectations for my class within the first week and learning when to speak and when to listen is very important to me as a teacher and to my students, who should learn such manners and apply them anywhere they go.

This looks like a great parent handout for open house or back to school night! These sites would also make an educational behavior incentive for during computer lab.

"They are also GREAT throughout the year if I have a new student walk through the door, it is quick and easy to just hand this to the parent to at least introduce how my class is run and details they will need to know....without me trying to remember everything I need to tell them."
