This mare's name was Reckless -- a pack horse during the Korean war, where rough terrain and primitive roads demanded animals to carry rifles, ammunition, and supplies to Marines on the front lines. During the battle for Outpost Vegas, she made 50 trips up and down the hill; on the way up she carried ammunition, and on the way down she carried wounded soldiers. The amazing thing -- is that she made every one of those trips up the hill, through enemy fire, without anyone leading her.

Rare woolly pigs – or sheep pigs –have been brought to the Essex Zoo to breed, to help stop the rare animals going extinct. They are officially known as Mangalitzas and are native to Austria and Hungary, but do have a genetic link to the Lincolnshire curly coat, which roamed British fields until they went extinct in 1972.
After parcel post service was introduced in 1913, at least two children were sent by the service. With stamps attached to their clothing, the children rode with railway and city carriers to their destination. The Postmaster General quickly issued a regulation forbidding the sending of children in the mail after hearing of those examples.
weird.. How fun & beautiful is THIS?! We all have old coffee makers around. Clean that pot REALLY WELL, and add a beautiful Betta Fish!! Unlike other fish, they do well in smaller environments. ((Just remember: because it holds less water, it becomes dirtier faster - so change that water often for your fish friend!!))
betta fish tank~LOVE THIS!!!
The Methuselah tree is like the estranged grandfather that no one in your family talks about. It is the oldest known living tree on the planet, but its location will not be revealed. This is because an even older tree, nicknamed Prometheus, was accidentally cut down in 1964. At 4,843 years old, the bristlecone pine is worth protecting, even if it means anonymity. Árbol del Tule This Montezuma cypress is located in the Mexican state of Oaxaca and has the stoutest trunk of any tree in the world. One theory is that it's mulitple trees grown together. However, DNA testing has proven that it is indeed one tree. In 2001 it was placed on the UNESCO tentative list of World Heritage Sites, and guess what? It is sometimes nicknamed the Tree of Life because of all the animal shapes that can be seen in its gnarled trunk. (Photo: Alberto Inrocci / Getty)
