DIY- Oxidation finishing on wood~ Since it doesn't make sense to build a piece of furniture and then leave it out in the elements to weather, this quick process of oxidation using steel wool and vinegar is a great substitute...and looks just as beautiful, but without the splinters. An oxidizing solution comes in handy when you're working with reclaimed wood

The Friendly Home: {finishing} How to oxidize wood

Love how all the different pieces came together to make this!! gears- wood post, cast iron stove pieces, porcelain insulators.

Gift for my kids .. Enjoyed building it

Very rustic! This is done by using the extra wood that comes off of the tree being cut into a square. You can see the bark is still on. Then it is cut into thin pieces for floor trim. Great re-use of the extra lumber from the log being cut.
