Dawson Creek, BC, Canada. Start of the Alaska Highway. We drove our CAMPER from California to Fairbanks Alaska. In 1978, we had to travel about 2000 miles of DIRT ROAD. It was messy! Dusty when we had dry weather and muddy when it rained. NOW it's paved all the way. We took the CASSIAR Hiway back.

The Alaska-Canada Highway. My favorite road.

A photograph of the gallows on which one of the principals present, Ellison "Cottontop" Mounts, was hanged for his allegedly murdering Randolph McCoy's daughter Alifair in a 9-members Hatfield raid on the McCoy cabin. The raid killed two of Randolph's children (a son and a daughter). Randolph escaped, but his wife was beaten and left for dead. Ellison was the only participant in the long-standing Hatfield-McCoy feud who was ever legally executed. He was hanged February 18, 1890 in Pikeville, KY.
