Worst Craigslist Ads

The worst of the worst apartment ads. Jumpshell looks at a lot of Craigslist apartment listings. We like to keep tabs on the worst way to find apartments, so we can continue building the best way to find apartments. Beyond looking like what nails on a chalkboard sounds like, they are almost completely devoid of any information that’s helpful in letting you know if you’ll even enjoy living there.

$1425 Perfect Studio apartment..Eat in Kitchen..3 T Lines..For 2/1 They absolutely nailed the headline — this studio apartment is PERFECT. For everyone. Everyone would think this apartment is perfect. Thank you, thank you Craigslist! boston.craigslist...

$1800 / 1br – _Cambridge__|)()(|_9/1_for_$1800_|)()(| That bobbing and weaving of parentheses and vertical lines is intoxicating. Then they follow it up with the captivating, warped photos of the kitchen. Woo! Cool me down. Gotta rent it. boston.craigslist...

$2000 ☀Nice Open 1 BR on Mass Ave Near Porter Sq Available Now☀ The rarely seen, but always appreciated, sunburst eye-catcher technique! How do they do that?? Just HAVE to rent it now. boston.craigslist...

$1800 / 2br – HWD FL I mean, it doesn’t get much more descriptive than that. Luckily they’ve provided some blurry, backlit photos to really put you inside the apartment. What a win! boston.craigslist...

$1700 / 1br – *~*~*~HARVARD SQUARE 1BR*~*~*(((UTILS INC)))*~*~*LAUNDRY*~*~*~ Phenomenal use of the asterisk/tilde combination we referenced in #3. A bold strategy, Cotton, but BOY is it paying off.

$3800 / 3br – Rare~first~floor~apartment~in~exclusive~Cottage~Farm~District So rare. I mean it’s a Historic Cottage Farm!!! If that doesn’t sell you in a heartbeat, I just don’t know what will. Compelling and rich.

$1600 / 2br – *~*~*WINTER HILL WINNER*~*~*HW FLOORS*~*~*LAUNDRY*~*~*~ Note the alluring dance that the asterisk and the tilde play. Then once you get INTO the listing — well your life just changes. I believe “tons of natural light” is close to — but not quite as impressive as — “drenched in sun.”

$1950 / 1br – |Cambridge||=(–)=|NOW||Central|A/C||PKG|INCL|for|$1950|=(–)= I mean the only problem I see here is that the resolution on the picture might be too high. My eyes hurt if a picture is too clear. Also, I get nervous when there are too many features listed — for instance this listing has “A/C”.
