Roman Glass Goblet with Blue Pastilles | 3rd Century AD, 4th Century AD
Roman vessels, Conthey (VS), Switzerland
Roman Empire. Although it looks like a colorful contemporary art piece, the glass cup was actually created in the Roman Empire around 25 BC-50 AD. In a process that is still used today, the artist fused colored glass canes together into a flat multi-colored disk. The disk was then placed over a mold and heated until the glass softened and slumped, forming the glass into a cup shape.
Very vintage art glass: Italy @ 25 BC-50 AD
