Use boiling water and two teabags to clean hardwood floors. The tannic acid in tea creates a beautiful shine for hardwood floors. Let two teabags steep in the boiling water for a few minutes. Pour the tea into a bucket. Take a soft cloth and wring it out in the tea. The cloth merely needs to be damp, not soaked. This will enable the floor to dry quickly. Wash the floor and be ready to be amazed by the sheen.
Putting It Together: Spread Color- When you're spreading color around a room, think about proportion. If you're using three colors, try a 70/20/10 distribution: Use the lightest color for 70 percent of the room's decor, the second lightest for 20 percent, and the boldest for 10 percent. For two colors, go with 70/30.
One rule of thumb: Always test paint samples. It's especially a good idea when you want a muted green -- what seems like khaki on the chip could be vibrant olive on the wall. But to prevent earthy greens from looking drab, keep potential accent colors in mind. Try pairing lighter shades of green with creams or butter yellows to wake them up a bit. --Ruthie Sommers, interior designer

Add Architectural Detail - Used in combination or alone, trim, molding, & wainscoting offer nearly endless design options. Depending on the style of the room, the effect may be casual or formal, rustic or defined, traditional or contemporary. In any case, millwork surface treatments can add charm & texture to a room. Classic flat-panel wainscoting adds structural appeal to a long expanse of wall.

Restful Color Scheme ale fern-green walls in this guest room provide a serene backdrop for the inviting faux-bamboo bed in bright white. Mirrored side tables add modern glamour, and green toile bedding brings in traditional style. Because of its restful and neutral quality, the light green makes the small touches of vivid pink -- the billowing hydrangeas and stack of books -- pop.
