By "dark" I mean if your grout is dyed a dark color to begin with... this cleaner works best on white/beige/grey grout. I sprayed, delayed a few seconds, scrubbed with grout brush, wiped dirt away with cloth (and wiped grout brush), and repeated. 2-3 passes works really great.

Stevelynn, I tried it with a regular scrub brush to compare and it didn't seem to do much. I think the stiff bristles on the grout brush really made a big difference! :)

Thanks Mariah! Where do you buy those brushes? I would like to try again.

  • Suzanne Noonan

I just bought some on Amazon.com

  • Stevelynn Cardis

Thanks, Suzanne. I will order a couple right away, as I was not pleased with the final result after cleaning my bathroom floor several times I will let you know. Thanks for you help!

Just tried this recipie and it didn't do very much but remove my nail polish on my nails

worked for me but it does take some soaking then scrubbing. My grout was not white, so it does not look like the picture, but it went from chocolate brown to cream/tan so definitely an improvement. Unfortunately, my phone could not capture the difference I could see. Floor is now sealed (which was the point of cleaning the grout!)

My groute was white what on earth was I thinking ...it did come clean after lots of elbow grease might try the hydrogen peroxide on my other floor.

I have white tiles and grout, and after 12 years the grout isn't so white anymore_so I tried this and it was a huge improvement. The thing to remember post scrubbing, is not to mop the dirt back into the grout because it then defeats the purpose of the clean...

This worked for me! I used lemon juice instead of ammonia and 1 cup of water instead of 7.

Forgot to say I used just over 2c water!

It worked better than I thought!

Worked great. Did need to use the stiff brush.

Didn't work for me not even when I cut back on the water. Cleaned some of the dirt but didn't make it any where close to the white the grout started out as.
