Patriotic watermelon & Feta Flag Here’s what you do: 1. Cut and cube half of a seedless watermelon. 2. Cube 8 ounces of feta. 3. Rinse off 1 pint of fresh blueberries. 4. Pour blueberries into a bowl, preferably square and place in the top left corner of a rectangle (or oval) platter. 5. Assemble watermelon and feta into rows, starting with the watermelon. Serve with a side of toothpicks for easy and healthy handling of the food.
The Kids Campaign curriculum includes forms for the kids to "register" to vote. This is a fun idea to take it to the next level!
I can't really use the accompanying lesson plan, but the ballot box in the picture made me think of Election Day and how I could have students read about the candidates and cast votes. I love the idea of a political debate in the classroom and teaching them how to sift through the nonsense. I could use some work on that myself...
Get the little ones involved! Make a Name Mascot for each candidate!
