Use paint cards for teaching the Common Core Language standard about "Shades of Meaning"
Small Group activity - cover chart paper with sight words repeated several times each. Give each student a different colored crayon and have them locate a word-read it to you- then they can circle it
My kids get to choose as many books as they can carry at the library. It’s like a siren’s song to investigate the entire children’s section – what cool books can they find? After Reading: This activity helps children to retell the story. After reading a story have the kids "follow the yellow brick road" and retell the story in their own words. Then has a whole group you can retell it as a class and use stickies notes on a poster to write down the main points.... Or put on o rings to resell to a buddy.
