take out the bottom drawer, and wallpaper the inside
Shelf Details - old bookshelf or dresser (better if it's missing drawers because then it's cheaper!) and recycle/upcycle it! Sand it down, clean it up and paint the whole thing your favorite color or an accent color that suits the room it'll live in. Before you put the shelves in put fabric on the back "wall"! OR...You could use wallpaper, or stencil your own design! FUN stuff!!

Love this kitchen re-do ... especially converting some of the cabinets to the open hutch-type shelf on the left, and the replacement of the light fixture - granite is nice as well, and the white DOES give a clean look (though I actually like wood cabinet faces) posted by The Money Pit: Kitchen Reveal: 80's to AWESOME!
To paint over ANY surface, without sanding, use a product called 'ESP Easy Surface Prep', available at hardware and paint shops. Wipe on, wipe off and paint in 90 minutes. Works well over enamel paint , without having to sand. SAVES HOURS of work. It was recommended to me by a professional painter.
