Coral Reef Fish ~ Version 2
Dream Painters: Coral Reef Fish ~ Version 2
Demonstration Time: This is a group of kindergarteners about to embark on paper weaving. I have found that when teaching weaving a giant loom really helps. After I have given a demonstration, I run through all of the directions again using call and response. Not sure what I mean? In my room, it goes like this: I'll clear my throat and that's the signal that anything I'm about to say, the kids are to repeat. It almost sounds like a little ditty with lots of hand gestures and voice inflections. .
For this project my beginning students used all the letters of their first and last names to create an overlapping design. They then drew 3 circles over the design. Inside the circles they painted either cool colors or warm colors only and then painted the backgrounds the other color scheme. They finished the work by tracing their lines with a black marker to create a stained glass look.
