How to Save a Wet Cell Phone - Take the phone out of the water as soon as possible. Remove the battery and SIM card. Remove all other peripherals and covers that can be removed. Dry your phone. Use a substance with a high affinity for water to help draw out moisture. . . RICE. Leave the phone in a bowl or bag of uncooked rice overnight. The rice would absorb any remaining moisture. After you have waited at least 24 hours, or longer if possible, check to see that everything on and in your cell phone is clean and looks dry. Re-attach the battery to the phone. Try turning it on. This REALLY works MOST of the time.
YES! Rice is a miracle worker. I dropped my phone brand new Galaxy Nexus in a puddle for almost 10 minutes. What I thought was a total loss turned out to be a complete miracle. Took it apart, dried what I could, turned it back on....not working. So, I covered it in a sealed container overnight of rice and orzo. Woke up this morning, all is well with my phone. Either the design of the Samsung phone, the design of the rice, or both, is a brilliant solution, I am not sure. I do know, before you throw out your water logged phone, try rice. You can read the details of how to do it in this post.
