Isador and Ida Straus. Isador owned Macy's. When the Titanic began to sink, Ida refused to get on a lifeboat without her husband. They were inseperable in life, writing to each other every day they were apart. He was offered a place with her, but HE refused, saying younger men should go in his place. He put his wife's maid on instead. They were last seen sitting together quietly on the deck of the Titanic. I hope to face my end with as much grace.
