Pencils in a straw dispenser ... brilliant! A Teeny Tiny Teacher: First Day of School

Use this at the beginning of the year to get to know your students. Way more fun than a regular worksheet with a list of questions.

Put student's names on the back of YOUR nametag so that you won't have to worry about finding the list during something like a fire drill.

DIY:: Use Lilly Pulitzer fabric to cover basic wooden boxes and top with glass to create your own custom tables.

A paper towel holder with page protectors attached by binder rings. Classroom reference for a substitute? How about an easy access dictionary for a writing center (Add reference tabs for each letter of the alphabet)? What about a place to display student work?

quiet critters-when you decide it is important for students to be quiet pass out quiet critters- take them away from students who talk. At the end of the activity anyone who still has a quiet critter gets a prize, point, whatever you use.

First week of school time capsule- stamp & date their itty handprints, measure their height with yarn, and have them fill out a little first day info sheet with their self portrait on the back. Then save 'till the last day of school and have them open it and do the exact same activity! It’ll be so much fun to see how much they grow and change this year!! Love this idea! (download sheets!)

GREAT guided reading website! So many ideas! Blank running records pages, guided reading binder inserts and much ,much ,more!

Give crazy straws to students as birthday presents! More fun than receiving another pencil and better than giving away candy!

Kids wear clothes pin on collar instead of taking huge pass... ESPECIALLY if they are going to the restroom. GERM SAVER!

Slap! Call out a word and first person to slap it, adds it to their pile..... vocabulary, sight words, math facts... so many possibilities!
