MEDUSA/ORIGIN: In Greek mythology, Poseidon is found raping Medusa in Athena's temple. Enraged, Athena transformed Medusa's hair into snakes and made her gaze turn anyone who looked at her into stone. EXPLANATION: Medusa is used as a central theme for jealousy and punishment. EXAMPLE: Jessica shared almost the same fate as Medusa when Jenna shunned her and no one would so much as look at her.
