For back fence...Limelight hydrangeas. They grow up to 8 ft tall, can grow in full sun or shade and can tolerate dry soil. Beautiful!

A floating trellis would look so great over the walkway to the front door. If we grew creeping vines on it we could shade that walkway and the door when it's so blasted hot in the summer. Darn you west facing front (side) door!
