Marilyn Monroe at the Beach .... (1949?)ish // Marilyn -- her hair was still rough -- she had VERY bushy bushy dark brown hair that wasn't soft at all, and had to be treated to straighten in order to style -- SOME photo's of early mm were retouched to LOOK blonde. why? Everyone wanted shots of the Blonde mm.

This is a rare image from behind the camera on the set of CASABLANCA, showing cinematographer Arthur Edeson and stars Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman (1942). Edeson filmed Ms. Bergman primarily from her left side, using a gauze filter to soften her image, and he placed lights about the set to help catch the sparkle of her eyes. The end result was that Bergman’s character came off “sad, tender and nostalgic”. Film noir lighting was used throughout, but is especially noticeable toward the end.
