special education resources
I'm pretty sure the RESOURCES are labeled. I don't see "child's name - disability". This is the mark of a good exceptional education teacher. Resources are kept for different types of disabilities to accommodate many different students. Thank you, Ruth for being a teacher that I can look up too. I hope to be like you one day.
You have too understnd your students in order to help them... How could we offer "special education" if we don't know their "special" or particular needs. The students IEP permits us to keep track and inform the classroom teacher. The IEP is a tool.
Identifying a student's needs for education is not labeling. Labeling is societal. As Morgan pointed out, these resources are labeled or categorized for organizational purposes.
I don't think the intention was about the labels, but the content of the files. Ruth is sharing valuable information that will help us better know and teach students with mild disabilities. Thanks, Ruth, for sharing and I'm looking forward to receiving the email updates.
I have a special needs daughter. They are amazing complicated human beings and deserve an education according to their many different needs and learning abilities. Good organized Special Ed teachers are literally angels on earth.
