The movie the Conjuring was based on the family Perron's true life events. The real Conjuring farmhouse, often referred to by the Perron family as the Old Arnold Estate, is still standing and is located in Harrisville, Rhode Island.

History of the Perron family and the Harrisville (Rhode Island) Haunting (The true story behind the movie "The Conjuring").

In December 1970 Roger and Carolyn Perron purchased a farmhouse in Harrisville, Rhode Island. Following events at their previous address, Carolyn did not want to raise her children there and felt a house in the country would be a more suitable location to grow up. But her dream home quickly turned into a living nightmare. The house that they purchased was the old Arnold farm which was over two centuries old. Eight generations had lived and died in that house and some of these spirits never left.
