APOD: 2003 October 13 - Pelican Nebula Ionization Front
Astronomy Picture of the Day for 13 Jul 2014. NGC 2818 is a beautiful planetary nebula, the gaseous shroud of a dying sun-like star. It could well offer a glimpse of the future that awaits our own Sun after spending another 5 billion years or so steadily using up hydrogen at its core, and then finally helium, as fuel for nuclear fusion.

NGC 2359, better known as the Thor's Helmet nebula, is actually more like an interstellar bubble, blown as a fast wind from the bright, massive star near the bubble's center sweeps through a surrounding molecular cloud. The central star is an extremely hot giant Wolf-Rayet star, thought to be in a brief, pre-supernova stage of evolution. It lies about 15,000 light years from Earth in the constellation Canis Major, measuring about 30 light years.
Australian astronomers find the oldest Star: 13.6 billion years old, making it the most ancient star seen. It lies in our own galaxy, the Milky Way, at a distance of around 6,000 light years from Earth. story dated: 10 Feb 2014

05/13/13 Depressed people live in parallel time zone, scientists find ~People with severe depression have a disrupted “biological clock” that makes it seem as if they are living in a different time zone...The researchers found that they could estimate a healthy person's time of death to within a few hours by analysing the activity levels of a set of genes-whether they are switched on 'high' or 'low'-within certain regions of the deceased brain.
