Beating the odds
Book Review: I Beat The Odds by Michael Oher
Kim Phuc was pictured in a world-famous and iconic photograph from the Vietnam war, running naked from an airborne attack, horribly burned with napalm, in June of 1972. Since then, Kim has found peace, and a message she can offer, borne of her suffering. She runs The Kim Foundation International, and she acts as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNESCO. She has transformed into a viable, visible symbol of peace and hope. Hers is an important story of resilience, courage, and forgiveness.
Brave Woman Descends Sewer for Trapped Homeless Dog- witnesses reported that a dog was down at the bottom of a sewage drain and no one from any of the city departments would come to help. Some passersby would look, others would continue about their business, but no one was about to ‘lower’ themselves to save a street dog from a filthy hole.

Meet Oogy, Oogy was about ten weeks old and weighed 20 pounds he was tied to a stake and used as bait for a Pit Bull. The left side of his face including most of his ear was torn off. He was bitten so hard a piece of his lower jaw was crushed. Afterward, he was thrown into a cage and left to bleed to death. If you have time to reblog pointless hipster photos, youll have time to reblog this, respect for Oogy...He's a survivor for a breed ruined by horrible people. I believe in these dogs.
Spirit's life changed forever in October of 2000 when she was rescued after being doused with gasoline, set on fire and left for dead in a cemetery. Her life essentially began anew after Vicki Kavanaugh, then superintendent at the Evansville Vanderburgh Animal Care & Control shelter, looked into her eyes and saw the fighting spirit that she was named for.
Scarlett the cat and her 5 kittens were strays on the streets of Brooklyn, New York. When the abandoned garage they were staying in caught fire, Scarlett took each kitten one by one to safety, and, because she was blinded by the fire, touched their noses to see if they were alive. Once she rescued all of her kittens, she collapsed unconscious. Heroic Scarlett and her four surviving kittens became international media sensations, and, luckily, recovered from their ordeal.

He only had a few seconds-he was fighting like hell to stay alive.” A 2nd emaciated dog was found. CALL:843-747-4849 www.charlestonani... TO DONATE!
This firefighter saved this dog from a fire in her house, carrying her out and putting her in the front yard. She's pregnant. The firefighter continued to fight the fire. He was afraid of her at first since he'd never been around a Doberman before, but when he finished putting out the fire, he sat down to rest and the red Doberman, who was watching the firefighter, walked over to him and kissed him, just as a photographer from Charlotte, NC's "The Observer" snapped this photograph!!
This is BEYOND Love....“A newborn baby abandoned in a Kenyan forest was saved by a stray dog who apparently carried her across a busy road and through a barbed wire fence to a shed where the infant was discovered nestled with a litter of puppies.” CBS News covered this story as well.
