Schlong - Punk Side Story. It takes a bit of nerve to pop in a collectivist, anarchist, drunk-punk band's interpretation of a classic Broadway play, simply because the odds of encountering brain-bending badness are so high. Schlong, however, beat the odds with their interpretation of West Side Story. Fun, funny, and musically almost competent, it's a nice change from the self-important preaching that punk has become.
Joe Strummer And The Mescaleros - Streetcore. Further proof that Joe Strummer was a God, Streetcore is Clash-y, punk-y, rock-y perfection from beginning to end. The opener, Coma Girl, sets the standard and the rest of the album keeps pace nicely. Joe even does a great cover of Bob Marley's Redemption Song. Bob and Joe are tokin' it up and jammin' with the angels now.
