Carleton Villa, near Cape Vincent, amazed viewers as the most ambitious house on the river when completed in 1894. The huge edifice has been derelict for more than seventy years now. Amazingly, it still stands, due to its substantial construction—still causing wonderment.
Lillesden Estate Mansion, later The Lillesden (or Bedgebury) School for Girls, UK. This mansion was built between 1853 and 1855 by a banker named Edward Lloyd. After World War I, the house was sold and became a public school for girls. It closed in 1999, and the building has been abandoned since then.

Fortress of Methoni in Peloponnese, Greece. This fortress was occupied and fortified back as early as 4th century BC. The castle of Methoni rises deserted and isolated today. When the winter winds hit its walls the locals say that you can hear the screams of the prisoners and the unjustly killed in the Bourtzi. Beautiful!
