Melly Sews: Fields of Gold - Project Run and Play Week 3
I have always loved smocking but never had any idea how to do it. Next Spring = Smocking is IN! - First draw a grid on the back of the material, at least 3 columns but you may do as many as you like. Next, draw squares (making them as wide as the rows make them high - 1cm by 1cm to 2.5 for a larger plait). Then, draw a line in every other square, alternating directions in each row as a sewing guide.

Shark Teeth technique for folded self-trimmings. Good for pillows, skirts (adds stiffness, too), etc.
