Guillian Barre / Sx: Respiratory failure, flaccid paralysis, unirnary rentention (<sensory)
pneumothorax assessment reveals decreased respiratory excursion on side affected; possible bulging of intercostals; tracheal deviation and/or mediastinum shift (tension - toward unaffected lung; others - toward affected lung); hyperresonance; decreased/absent breath sounds; abnormal ABGs, CXR, hypercapnia, hypoxemia
RESTRICTIVE LUNG DISORDER: PNEUMOTHORAX
Treating Congestive Heart Failure
Metabolic Acidosis. Relative excess of any acid but carbonic, by reduction in base, increase in acid, or both. Clinical manifestations: headache, abdominal pain, CNS depression caused by decreased pH of cerebrospinal fluid and interstitial fluid of the brain. Death from brainstem dysfunction occurs when pH falls below 6.9. The respiratory compensation for metabolic acidosis is hyperventilation. Changes ratio of bicarbonate ions to carbonic acid in a favorable direction.
