Duquesne Incline, Pittsburgh, PA. German immigrants who settled in Pittsburgh in the last century constructed these vernicular cable cars. They were built to transport steelworkers and those who worked in the city below from Coal Hill (Mt. Washington). At one time there were nearly twenty-five built, but only two remain in existence. Featured here is the Duquesne Incline with its signature red & yellow colors.
