This model has both concave (curved inwards) and convex (curved outwards) lenses mounted on a moveable arm in front of a picture of an eye. A small lever below the eyeball can make the eye ‘long-sighted’ or ‘short sighted’. By using the correct spectacle lens, the image on a rear screen comes into focus. This is a teaching model from the Department of Natural Philosophy at the University of Aberdeen and was used to demonstrate the principles of lenses.
