Paris' Parade of Dresses in Chocolate # 14

QUETZALCOATL BROUGHT TO LIFE The showpiece shows a cocoa tree from South America. In the tree there is a figure of Quetzalcoatl surrounded with leaves, flowers and cocoa beans. My objective is to show the chocolate god as a boundary maker between heaven and earth, who brought the cocoa plant as a gift to mankind.

One of the Easter traditions in Catalonia is "La Mona", an Easter Egg or cake. Chocolate sculptures representing Disney characters, football idols, etc. adorn the shop windows as each shopkeeper tries to make his display the biggest and the best in order to attract the attention of the children as they go past. Most of the cakes and sculptures are decorated with coloured feathers, chocolate eggs, fluffy chicks, etc. and each year about 500,000 "monas"are eaten in Catalonia.
