Mr. Must See TV (Official)
Playing On My iPod (9-1-12): "Mi Viejo" by Piero. Dedicated to my dear old dad (mi querido viejo) on his birthday is the original and definitive version of this emotional father/son anthem. “Yo soy tu sangre mi viejo.”
Playing On My iPod (7-30-12): "The Funeral" by Band of Horses from their album "Everything All The Time". If I ever wrote and directed a dramedy, then this song would play during the closing credits of my film. It's a haunting yet soothing song.
Nike Mercurial Glide III iD Soccer Cleat: These days, suits aren't the only thing that one can get custom-made. Got these Nike soccer shoes custom-made through NikeStore.com to use on my recreational soccer team - the Riverbank Social Club (@RSCFutbol). Pretty sweet!
Playing On My iPod (6-25-12): “MoneyGrabber” by Fitz & the Tantrums from their album “Pickin’ Up the Pieces”. Catchy, soulful song in the tradition of Motown classics of yesteryear. The band has as unique a sound as you’ll find in an otherwise clichéd musical landscape. Can't wait to catch them at MPAC in Morristown, NJ on September 20, 2012. Other @FitzAndTantrums songs to check out: (1) "Don’t Gotta Work It Out"; (2) "Breakin’ the Chains of Love"; (3) "L.O.V."; and (4) "Winds of Change".
Playing On My iPod (5-7-12): “The Way That You Are” by PT Walkley from his new album “Thriller”. I first discovered Walkey’s work after receiving a copy of his “Whats What” EP at the premiere of Ed Burns’ 2010 film "Nice Guy Johnny", which Walkey scored, and have been a fan ever since. Mix The Beatles with Pete Yorn and add a sprinkle of bluegrass and you have PT Walkley. Other PT Walkley (@ptwalkley1) songs to check out: (1) "Somebody"; (2) "Why"; (3) "Lucky Ones"; and (4) "Whats What".
Montclair Film Festival: Montclair, NJ, a suburb about a thirty minute drive from NYC, has a vibrant cultural, artistic and food scene and is one of the best kept secrets in the Tri-State area. If there is one suburb that can not only pull off a film festival of its own but make it thrive it is Montclair. Frankly, I love the idea of having a film festival in my new adoptive hometown that I can call my own. Be sure to check out the inaugural Montclair Film Festival from May 1st to May 6th.
Tribeca Film Festival: Founded in 2002 as a way to revitalize the Tribeca neighborhood after the 9/11 attacks, this film festival is now enjoying its eleventh year. I first attended the Tribeca Film Festival back in 2007 and have been hooked ever since.
Playing On My iPod (4-16-12): "My Valentine" by Paul McCartney from his album "Kisses On The Bottom". I absolutely love the video for this song, which features Natalie Portman lip-synching and signing the song’s lyrics. While there are two other versions of the video - one featuring Johnny Depp alone and another one with both Portman and Depp, I prefer the Portman-only version because of its sheer simplicity, beauty and emotion (and because I’ve always had a crush on Natalie Portman – duh!).
Playing On My iPod (4-9-12): "Us" by Regina Spektor from her album "Soviet Kitsch". Going to see her play The Wellmont Theatre (@WellmontTheatre) in Montclair, NJ on Tuesday, April 10, 2012. Other Regina Spektor (@respektor) songs to check out: (1) "Eet"; (2) "Fidelity"; (3) "Hero"; and (4) "Ghost of Corporate Future".
