Mrs. Knight's Smartest Artists: Eric Carle collage: I like how they painted and shared the paper.

Cardboard, bottle caps, paint = music. My son made these for a 1st grade sound project at school. We put a round lollipop stick in the crease to keep it from collapsing. Very easy and fun.

Plastic spoons, plastic eggs, masking tape, and markers. Homemade maracas!!! First a craft, then a music maker. Have each kid make two and then shake them at the same time...that gets BOTH sides of the brain chugging along!

Paper plate crown craft - would be cute to make these at a birthday party

Crayon hot rocks: If you have not done this yet, you need to. Simply warm up the rocks in the oven (I did 220 for 10 minutes), then put them on a stack of newspapers (or something else you don't care if it gets crayon in it) and let the little ones go to town. Just remind them it is hot. I have done it with 2 1/2 year olds with no problem. My little lady often brings in rocks for me to "cook" so she can paint them
