kumihimo with bead clusters

  • Caroline Bleil

I would think that you would load your beads on all 8 cords, as usual, and then just braid of 1" without the beads and then braid WITH beads until you have 10 or 12 (maybe fewer, whatever it takes to make what looks like a cluster, then return to braiding without beads for another inch, make another beaded cluster, braid another inch, then a cluster, etc. It seems easy to me to do this.

You're welcome Korkie. That used to be my nickname when I was a teeny-bopper back in the mid-1950's, except that I spelled it with a C and not a K.

It is easy to do I have now done it several times. It's just a matter of counting. Depending on how many clusters you want. I only do four so I pit approximately 14-16 #8 seed needs and then 6 or 8 magatama a then the seed beads I see 5 seed bed bunches and four mags comes out about 17 inches if need be you can add some swarofsky crystals after the cone and before the final clasp to make it longer. See my website for example www.jannyglass.com. Jewelry
