I'm from Detroit. Classic cars are one of my very favourite things to shoot. You knew this board was coming. You're only surprised it took so long.

It would be ignorant to think that a car that has literally been under 9 feet of water for 40 years would do anything.

  • Thor

This is true, although I don't think they knew of it's condition before they went out there. They were thinking it was mostly dry before opening the vault.

  • Liberty Images Jen

No, there was no way for anyone to know that the vault had flooded and the car had been sitting in water and its own acids for so long. I certainly don't think attempting to restore it to drivable condition after ascertaining the state of the car was wise, but to each his own!

  • Thor

I think Boyd's involvement in the whole thing was just for attention for his TV show, but us car guys and gals can't resist trying to fire up resting vintage tin. There's a few where we store one of our cars which have been sitting for decades and I'd love to throw a fresh battery and gas in just for the challenge!

  • Thor

I wasn't aware they were going to restore this, though. That IS crazy!
