Finished in 1895, The Breakers is the first of two Vanderbilt Mansions in the high-tone city of Newport, Rhode Island—the New England summer resort of the wealthy and famous. Considered one of the finest examples of Golden Age architecture in the U.S., The Breakers represents the imposing Neoclassical style which defined Beaux Arts Architecture.
Newport is one of my favorite towns to visit. Enjoyed The Breakers Mansions, Newport Rhode Island
Looks like one of the beaches I grew up on...Vilano Beach, St. Augustine, Fl. Full of all kinds of shells, Coquina shell everywhere... hurt your feet to walk : ) but I loved it. Then just on the other side of the island was St. Augustine Beach, smooth and soft! Staying here in April 2013 for daughters wedding.

I want to stay here! Biltmore House is a Châteauesque-styled mansion near Asheville, North Carolina, built by George Washington Vanderbilt II between 1889 and 1895. It is the largest privately-owned home in the United States, featuring 250 rooms. It stands today as one of the most prominent remaining examples of the Gilded Age.
