Huuray, Kate Middleton's dress was designed using lots and lots of beautiful Carrickmacross Lace. Carrickmacross lace was originally inspired by some Italian appliquÇ lace which Mrs Grey Porter, wife of the Rector of Donaghmoyne, a small village northeast of Carrickmacross in County Monaghan, brought back from her continental honeymoon in 1816. Her interest in this lace led to an  exploration of the craft with her sewing maid, and by the following decade she had evolved an individual style.

Carrickmacross Lace - The delicate and intricate patterns of Carrickmacross Lace date back to 1820. This tradition is now kept alive by Clare Salley in her studio in Slanelough, Ashford, Co. Wicklow, Ireland. The lacework is heirloom quality and is sought after for Irish bridal veils, Irish First Communion veils, and Irish baptismal gifts.

The DIngle Peninsula, Ireland - The only road on the peninsula .... one way as you can see. They had turnouts for oncoming traffic.
