Funky art? Contrasting textures? Antique knicknacks? Yes, please.
I visited Chaa Creek in Belize recently, and had the chance to stay at both the luxury lodge and the budget option on the property, Macal River Camp. I loved both experiences, but there was something extra special about the camp; you truly had the sense of being alone in the jungle. There is no electricity in the tents, and after dark they are lit by the soft glow of flickering gas lamps. My favorite part might have been listening to the chorus of the howler monkeys and cicadas at night.
