Alexander Calder's Stabiles (standing sculptures) and then made our own using poster board paper. I found the card stock to be too thin to stand. We used red, yellow, and black because those were colors Calder tended to use in his work. We also reviewed his life and viewed a few of his Mobiles. Did you know Calder made his first sculptures at eleven years old? www.Calder.org

Cover all the grade 4 writing personal narrative standards and much more with this month-long personal narrative/memoir unit of study! There are also units available in grades 3, 5, and 6. The unit includes 40 lessons (20 for reading and 20 for writing) complete with CCSS, descriptive details, and chart examples for every lesson. A book list of read-alouds is suggested for each reading lesson. There are tons of reproducibles and descriptions of both workshops in this 92 page resource!
